Since originating the “ska-jazz" style and name in 1994, the group, led by founder Rock Steady Freddie, has released 15 albums and toured the globe constantly! Featuring the finest players in the NYC music scene and beyond, their latest album, IN THE MOMENT, captures the band at their best! Recorded live in the studio with minimal overdubs, this is the NYSJE in their purest and most potent form...musicians creating together, live and in the moment!

The new album features founder/bandleader/ska legend Rock Steady Freddie, legendary reggae guitarist Andy Bassford (Toots & the Maytals, Dennis Brown, Shaggy, many others), NYC jazz bass stalwart Paul Nowinski (Les Paul Trio, NY Voices), trumpeter James K. Smith (the Skatalites, Burning Spear), noted jazz keyboardist Sharp Radway (Benny Golson, Yusef Lateef, Curtis Fuller, etc.), longtime collaborator, and co-producer Mark Damon (the Pretty Reckless, Bim Skala Bim) as well as NYSJE touring members Joey Gallo (drums), Simone Amodeo (additional guitars), Andy Mittoo (organ and keyboards) and also features the amazing guest vocals of the one and only Joanne Williams (the Wailers, Easy Star All-stars).
